Temagami Fire Tower at White Bear Forest

A 360-degree view awaits atop the tower, but don’t worry, the views are breathtaking from the viewing platforms on ground level, too!

A Viewing Platform at Ground-Level

The Main Viewing Platform is accessed by a short and steep hike directly from the parking or by a second, more accessible route – up the dirt access road that circles around and up to the tower. The ground-level viewing platform is a few hundred feet above the town of Temagami and the landscape below, providing visitors with expansive views without ascending the tower.

These photos are from my ascent up the tower, taking shots from each level until about half of the spiral staircase.

Another two flights of stairs and the view changed slightly. I can see more of the trees below me, although they appear to be at the same distance as the last photos when shot with the wide-angle lens. Next time, I’m going higher, even if it takes me all day.

As a large-footed lady, I didn’t feel as sure-footed once the steps started narrowing. I stopped a few flights (and a ladder) from reaching the top.

I followed the stone steps back down to the path at the foot of the tower and continued walking around the big orange loop. An easy route through the trees, passing the privies on the way back to the parking lot.
