Beautiful Fall Colours and Flatwater Kayaking at Marten River Provincial Park
I parked and put in at the beach in Assinika Campground, Marten River Provincial Park.
Throughout my Northeastern Ontario road trip, I had very few flatwater kayaking opportunities as there were heavy winds for most of my journey. However, I did get to paddle once at Marten River Provincial Park!
At this point in my voyage, the leaves had only started changing from green to the glory of autumn.
It was a (mostly) perfectly calm and warm day. I kayaked against the current for a few hours and took a short snack break on a sandy shoal.
With great sadness, I returned to the beach launch and let the river carry me back.

Marten River Provincial Park is open from the 3rd week in May to late September.
