A Look Inside Mew Lake’s Yurts at Algonquin Provincial Park
I’ve had the incredible pleasure of staying a few times in Algonquin’s yurts – have you ever wondered what they look like inside?
Good News!
The old yurts have been upgraded to Biome Yurts!
Biome Yurts
The old yurts at 34, 36 and 38 have been upgraded to the same style as 39 and 40 – the Biome Yurts – and the addition of another yurt at site 35.
The yurts at sites 49, 54 and 62 have been removed.
All yurts have a propane fireplace instead of electric heat. There are no screen/panel roll-up windows, only glass in the double front door and single back door. There is a central skylight. The interior construction and furniture are rustic in appearance, with a wood dining table with four chairs and wood furniture on the patio.
All biome yurts have raised wood platforms and a ramp for accessibility. The doorway has a high lip, making it a bumpy entry with a wheelchair.
Yurt 34, 36 and 38 have direct trail access to vault toilets.

Other roofed accommodations: campsites 41, 43 and 46 have been upgraded to glamping cabins.
Yurt 39 and Cabin 37 are dog-friendly.
Yurt Features:
- Covered BBQ area (seasonal)
- Electrical outlet(s) – bring an extension cord
- Plastic Tray for boots
- Broom and dustpan
- (Cold) wood floors – bring slippers
- Hook to hang clothes and wet coats
The yurt picture below was not in operation during my visit, as evidenced by the lack of patio furniture. The previous gallery had photos of the furniture.
